Why Use a Quilt Panel?

 

Using a quilt panel can be a great alternative to piecing a quilt when you want to make a gift for someone that doesn’t really appreciate the labor that goes into a hand-pieced quilt!  With PatternJam, you can still apply your creative talent, but we eliminate the need to piece the finished project.  Have grandkids you want to make quilts for?  Have them design the quilt right on PatternJam and quilt it for them– they won’t know and won’t even care if you didn’t piece it!

Another use for panels?  To PRACTICE QUILTING!  Who wants to spend dozens of hours piecing a project just to practice quilting?  This is where panels that you design yourself are especially useful: now you can design something with the very blocks that you want to learn to quilt.

Not sure how to use the design tool to create your own panel?  Here’s a step-by-step tutorial for getting started:

  1.  Go to PatternJam.com (sign in or create an account– this enables you to save your work)
  2.  Click “Start a New Quilt Design” in the left menu
  3.   Select “Ready to Quilt Design”

This takes you to the design tool and you’re off to the races!  Here’s a handy graphic tutorial to navigate your way around in the design tool…

Fabric Library

That’s it!  Pretty simple, huh?  Now go have fun designing your own quilt panel.  When you’ve got it the way you like it, click save to cart.  Place your order and your quilt panel will be printed and shipped to you in about 7 days!  I hope you love it…
